Welcome Student Assistants! You are an important member of the West Chester University Libraries team and your work here is essential. For some of you this may be a first job and for others just another in your work career. But even if you've worked in a library before every workplace has its own customs and we hope that this guide will help you get to know your way around in the beginning and act as a quick reference once you get your footing.
Basic Expectations of the IMC:
A few important things to note:
Dress Code- Casual but still respectable. No offensive sayings on clothing. This is a labor intensive position with a good amount of walking, reaching, bending and lifting, so dress accordingly.
Weather Emergency- If classes are cancelled due to a weather emergency you are not required to come to work. If you can/want to work you may come in and work your hours, just call 610-436-3395 to let us know. Otherwise we will be under the assumption that you will not be in.
Calling Out- If you are unable to work your scheduled shift for the day due to illness/emergency you must call 610-436-3395 and speak with Amanda, Ainsley, or Bobby to let them know you won't be in. Please give at least 1 hour notice so that coverage can be found for the shift.
