Overview

As the deadliest conflict in human history, the Second World War (1939-1945) profoundly affected both soldiers and civilians. The toll of the war was felt in everyday life for nearly all Americans once the U. S. was attacked at Pearl Harbor in 1941. Life on the campus at West Chester was also disrupted. Many students left to fight, while those that stayed behind sacrificed in many ways to support the troops.
