WCU Marching Band

West Chester State Normal School Cornet Band

The marching band’s origins date to its time as a cornet band that accompanied a military company of students on campus. The make-up of the band at this point is entirely male, despite the fact that women were the majority of students on campus.

Overview

The “Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band” can trace its origin to 1889 when it began as a small group of musicians who performed for a military company of Normal School students. Eventually, the band would group in number and reputation until it was performing in national parades and professional sporting events, as well as winning prestigious awards like the Sudler Trophy, which it added to its accomplishments in 2019.
