Finding biographical information

Looking for biographical information about dancers, choreographers, etc.? Looking for critical assessments of the work of choreographers and others? The library has several ways to find such information.

Library catalog:

The library catalog can be used to find books and audiovisual material about individuals.

If you are looking for information about a particular person, do a subject heading search under the person's name (last name first name order). Some examples:

If you are not looking for information about a specific person, try the following subject heading searches:

Dancers--Biography

Dancers--[name of country]--Biography (e.g., Dancers--United States--Biography)

Choreographers--Biography

Biography in Context (formerly Biography Resource Center) Search by name or by occupation

World Who's Who

Numerous volumes of Who's Who specialized biographical directories (e.g., Who’s who among African Americans, Who's Who of American Women (Ref 920.7 W628)) are available either online or in the Reference Department.
