OpenAthens is an authentication system that manages access to library resources through single sign-on (SSO) technology. It works the same both on and off campus. OpenAthens replaced EZProxy, our previous authentication method for most of our resources. Some library resources still remain on EZProxy.

This can be placed at the beginning of a URL of a library subscribed resource that does not have OpenAthens embedded in it.

All current West Chester University students, faculty, and staff have access to library electronic resources both on and off campus by using your WCU credentials. Users will only need to log-in once per session and will remain logged in for 8 hours. When you click on a link to a library resource, you will see a login page:
Select "Use your West Chester University Account" and you will be prompted with the WCU log-in:
Enter your WCU email and password and click Login to view the resource.
OpenAthens allows WCU students, faculty, and staff to log-in to many resources directly from the publisher or vendor site. Look for an Institutional Log-in link or a Find Your Library link (examples below) and follow the prompts to log-in.
