Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL): Books/Videos

A Research Guide for Teaching English as a Second Language from West Chester University Libraries

Finding textbooks/finding ELL textbooks

The library has a fairly large collection of PreK-12 textbooks. They are shelved in the Instructional Media Center (IMC), located on the first floor at the opposite end of the building from Starbucks.

Because of the very large numbers of students taking LAN/ENG382 this semester, many of the textbooks have been placed on reserve so that you will always be able to find a textbook in your area. Ask for reserve books at the IMC circulation desk. IMC staff will be happy to help you find the textbooks you need.

You can also scan the IMC shelves for the following call numbers and you will find many textbooks.

ESL films in streaming video

The films below are available in streaming video; some of them require logging in with your WCU username and password if you are viewing them off campus.

Also consider watching the Annenberg films on teaching languages other than English; many of the lessons could be easily adapted to teaching English to second-language learners: http://www.learner.org/resources/series185.html
