Welcoming Women's History Month with the WCU University Libraries

Written by Jen Vu

It’s Women’s History month! Observed every March, it’s a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture, and society. Annually commemorated since 1987, the goal of Women’s History Month is to highlight the achievements made by a variety of women in an array of occupations: filmmakers, artists, engineers, and pioneers of all kinds. For girls today, knowing women’s contributions to the world expands on their sense of what is possible.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks - by Rebecca Skloot

One of the books in our display, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lackstells a riveting story of the collision between ethics, race, and scientific medicine; of discovery and faith healing; and of a daughter filled with unanswered questions. The Francis Harvey Green Library also has an assortment of other books celebrating Women’s History Month. Check it out!
