Welcome Jill Dixon, Our New Dean of University Libraries!

West Chester University Libraries is excited to welcome our new Dean, Jill Dixon. While Jill was appointed in December 2022 following a national search, we are thrilled to have her officially in her role as of August 7th. 

“I am excited to join the excellent team of librarians and library staff who are dedicated to serving our students, faculty and staff at West Chester University,” said Jill. “It’s an honor to be part of team committed to student success, academic achievement, and inclusion.” 

Jill served at Binghamton University in New York for over 15 years, most recently as Interim Dean of Libraries. She brings senior-level managerial experience to West Chester University in library management and administration, assessment, research and instructional services, collection development, information literacy and public services, among many other related areas.  

Before joining WCU, Jill served on numerous library professional organization boards and committees from the local to national level. She will represent WCU Libraries at regional library organizations, including the Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration & Innovation and Keystone Library Network. She currently serves on two committees for Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures, an American Library Association division. She has also presented and published on library leadership, emergency planning, collection development and assessment, and space planning, among other topics. 

Jill holds a Master of Library Science from Indiana University, and a Bachelor of Arts in international relations and history from the University of Delaware, her home state.
