Finding Articles

This tutorial shows you how to use the Library Search box on the WCU Libraries home page. If you are getting plenty of results, but they aren't really getting at the social work angle, you can try searching in Social Work Abstracts (link below). Both Library Search and Social Work Abstracts are from EBSCO, so the search tips from this video also apply to Social Work Abstracts.

Need help thinking of keywords to find articles on your topic? Or just want to find out more about your topic? Try using the Encyclopedia of Social Work (linked below). It doesn't count as a peer-reviewed source, but it has a lot of helpful information that can help you pick terms to use to search and it also cites articles that you can find and use in your work.

Prefer Google Instead? Use Google Scholar to Access WCU Resources

Let Google Scholar know you should have access to WCU resources by:

  1. Click on the menu (three horizontal parallel lines)in the upper left on the Google Scholar homepage.

  2. Choose Setting from the menu that appears.

  3. Click on Library Links from the left menu.

  4. Search for West Chester University, then click on the box next to the result that says West Chester University Libraries-- Find-It @WCU, and select Save.

After you have done this, look for links that say either Find-It @ WCU or Check Availability @ WCU, to see if full text is available through WCU.
