WCU University Libraries Continuity Plan

Locations and Hours

When can I visit WCU Libraries?

F.H. Green Library and Presser Music Library will be open for Fall Semester up until Fall Break with the following hours:

  • Sundays 12pm-8pm
  • Mondays - Thursdays 8am-8pm
  • Fridays 8am-4pm.

University Libraries' physical spaces will be closed from November 21, 2020 through January 23, 2021. Services will be available online during this time and books and other materials can be requested to be mailed to your home address.

Library Usage Guidelines

Do I have to wear a mask in the libraries?

Yes, all University Health and Safety guidelines apply while in the libraries.

Are food and drinks allowed in the libraries?

At this time, covered drinks are allowed in the libraries. Food will not be permitted.

Are water fountains available?

Yes. Please follow the guidelines posted at the water fountains.

Study Spaces and Technology

What spaces will be available in the libraries?

The first and second floors in FHG Library as well as the Presser Music Library will be open. Seating has been reduced and spaced for social distancing.

Will computers be available?

Yes! Computers have been moved to maintain social distance in WCU Libraries. Please checkout a keyboard and mouse at a Help Desk. These will be sanitized between each use. You can check to see what computers are available before visiting

Will printers be available?

Yes! Ramprint Printers will be available in WCU Libraries.

Will scanners be available?

Yes! A scanner will be available in FHG Library in the IMC area on the first floor.

Will I be able to borrow a laptop?

Laptops have been loaned out through IS&T's Loaner program. There will not be laptops available to borrow at the libraries.

Will I be able to borrow other equipment?

Equipment will be loaned on a very limited basis. If you would like to request to borrow equipment, please contact us.

What if I have a tech question?

Please check our Troubleshooting Guides or reach out to us through chat. If you need help with your personal device, please contact the IS&T Help Desk.

Visitors

Can I visit WCU Libraries?

At this time access will be limited to current WCU students, faculty, and staff.

Alumni

Can I visit WCU Libraries?

At this time access will be limited to current WCU students, faculty, and staff.

Can I borrow books?

Please contact us if you would like to borrow a book and we can mail it to your home address.

Can I access electronic resources?

Off campus access to electronic resources is limited to current WCU students, faculty, and staff. Please check with your local public library.

Will the Writing Center be open?

Writing Center tutoring will be available online. Schedule an appointment for tutoring.

Will the Professional Testing Center be open?

The Professional Testing Center will be open with limited hours. Schedule an appointment online. You can access the Professional Testing Center through the exterior entrance from the Academic Quad

Will Starbucks be open?

Starbucks will be open with limited hours. See their website for details and updates. You can access Starbucks through the exterior entrance from the Academic Quad. Please note you will not be able to enter or exit the library through Starbucks.

Will Learning Assistance and Resource Center (LARC) tutors be available in FHG Library?

LARC tutoring will be available online. More details on their website

 

Lost and Found

What happens if I lose something in the library?

We will do our best to reconnect you. Check in with staff at FHG or Presser to see if your item was found. Valuables will be turned over to Public Safety. We will not be able to hold the following lost items: food and drink containers, mouth pieces for instruments, and clothing.

Donations

Can I donate books to the library?

Donations are not currently being accepted.
